Matters Arising

– The note under the stairs is yet to be done.

– With regards to the trip to the races the tickets are about £15 each. Ken however seems to be the only person interested. Terry thinks they’ll be more interest in a shopping trip or possibly visiting Weston illuminations.

Chairperson’s Report

– The weekly raffle is now up and running

– We are yet to hear anything from the community council

– We have had plumbing problems again. The current person that we use has a very poor response rate as he fits in around other jobs. It was suggested that we place Mike Donovan on a retainer to be on call to deal with any issues that we have in the club. There are no objections to this and we are happy to let him sort the current issue. We will need to tell Joe (who we have used for years) that unfortunately these things need to be dealt with urgently and that’s why we are now using another provider. We will also need to check that Mike has the relevant qualifications and liability cover.

– Some members have gone as they objected to the staff starting to clean the tables when they were still there. This boycott will include the Autumn Internationals.

– There is currently a conflict between the Crib and the Champions League football which will often be on a Tuesday night. Happy for the football to be shown, but the sound needs to be down.

– The Tote was discussed and it was agreed that only members can participate according to current regulations. On a Friday night the winner needs to show their membership ticket in order to win.

– Suggestions from the box:

Strippers – this is against the license.

Gambling – we have no gambling license.

Juke Box – this previously became too expensive as people weren’t using it enough. Anyone is welcome to bring their music in though.

– On Saturday there was an incident with the rugby club. They blocked the fire escape and placed banners up in front of the balcony. They informed us that they had it in writing to the community council they could do this. We have written to the community council with regards to this. This is a clear health and safety issue. A letter to also be sent to the rugby care of Alan Hyatt.

Membership update

We currently have 309 members and Carl and the money in on Sunday night.

Administrators Report

– Bank Accounts as of 29/09/17

Current: £36,381.65

High Interest: £11,625.25

MBS: £40,045.51

– Stocktake – 7 weeks from 04/8/17-22/9/17. Surplus was £141, Pipe Cleaning £810 and Waste £415.10. Our various sales events and the member’s night cost us a total of £831.49.

– A review of the year to date shows that we had more outgoings 3/5 of the months than what we took in. However over the year we are only £525 down, which is good especially when we consider the increase in wages across the board.

– Ali The project manager for the site is finished. There has been no one in post for a while now. However, a new appointee Neville has recently been put in post. The designated health and safety officer for the site is Kim Jones (she is the person that we can list as the competent person on our health and safety policy).

– The staff have all been given new shirts.

– The club has been cleaned

– Card payments are picking up a little.

Correspondence

– A thank you card from the Slade family.

– A thank you letter from the air ambulance.

AOB

– There was a suggestion of having an open mike night. We will need to look at potential sound systems etc. Terry happy to look into this and will pass on any details onto Zoe to advertise.

– A notice to be placed up for Halloween. People can bring in their own games etc, but no specifically organised events

– We have been advised that there will be another valuation by the community council.

– We will need to consider Christmas opening hours, reductions et cetera in advance of the next meeting.
